Lynn’s fishing families cherished
True’s Yard is built around the last surviving cottages in Lynn’s once thriving North End community. The tiny, carefully recreated rooms capture the harsh realities of fishing life and the traditions and spirit of a close-knit community. The museum reopened in 2010 after a major re-furbishment which has provided new displays, renovated the last surviving smokehouse in the North End and restored the fishing smack which takes pride of place in the small museum courtyard. A museum that’s at the heart of its community – run and staffed by volunteers, you’re guaranteed a warm welcome.
The museum features an Archive room and library (if you are travelling far, call in advance to check opening). Children’s workshops (booking required). Tours (booking essential). The shop has an excellent selection of local history books.
